BurnAware Premium is the intermediate member of the BurnAware family of disc-burning apps. This tool includes 17 utilities that allow you to burn all kinds of discs, plus some complementary utilities. Among the supported ones, you can burn standard data discs, audio CDs, MP3 CDs/DVDs, Video DVDs/Blu-ray discs and others. You also have a very good set of utilities to work with disc image files (e.g. ISO files).

The program has been designed with both beginners and experts in mind. While the former can easily create standard data, audio, MP3 and video CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs, erase re-writable ones or create a simple ISO image file, the latter can take advantage of the advanced features of the program like bootable discs/ISO image files creation, discs spanning or data recovery. One of the strongest aspects of the BurnAware family in general, and particularly of BurnAware Premium, is that they offer a complete set of tools to work with disc image files. You can use them to backup a disc as an image file, burn one back into a blank disc or create one directly from your filesystem. While the program can create image files in ISO and BIN formats, it can read and burn them in ISO, CUE, BIN, NRG, IMG and DMG formats.

For this version of the program, the developers have decided to keep its traditional user interface, basically consisting of a main menu with shortcuts to all the offered disc-burning utilities and complements. They are organized into five categories, namely Data, Multimedia, Disc Images, Utilities and Extra. The difference between this and the free edition of the program lies in the Extra category which, of course, is not present in the free edition. This category, in turn, includes three helpful utilities - a direct disc-to-disc copy one, a data recovery one (which tries to recover the information from damaged or corrupted discs), and the "Audio Grabber", which helps you extract the tracks from your audio CDs and save them as audio files in various formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, M4A and WAV, being you even able to configure their output parameters like the bitrate.

In conclusion, BurnAware Premium offers you a very comprehensive set of utilities to burn and perform other actions with your discs of all types. This member of the BurnAware family would be my recommendation to most users, unless they require to burn using multiple disc burners, or to use the program with commercial purposes, in which case they should consider BurnAware Professional. The only drawback I could find for this tool is that it doesn't support adding files directly from Windows Explorer through the drag-and-drop method.
